Changes for school

My alarm awakens me as a reminder to wake up to go to the most amazing place, School. School is like an amusement park, full of Joy and excitement. A place where every person dreams to go! Now time to really wake up and get to reality. School is the total opposite and If I had the chance to make changes to It, It would BEA number of things. There are many changes that I would Like to make to my school, but one thing would focus on changing would be the lunch.To start off, the amount of time we eve for lunch isn't even enough to take a bite out of your food after buying It. With a little more time for lunch I would be a lot more satisfied being able to finish my food. Another change I would make to the lunch would be the seating. With such a big school and an excessive amount of students there should be more tables and seats where we can eat comfortable without planning or rushing for a seat. The pizza Is another change I would make, I would Like to enjoy I nice tasting pizza Instead eating a pizza that taste like cardboard.Lunch would be so much better with this change on the lunch and result on kids actually wanting to come to school. Although we can't magically make changes to the school, I would want to change the number of students at the school. With so many students attending Ferguson the help in the offices are so hard to get through. For example, when you need to go excuse your absence it looks like they are giving stuff away! Another problem with the massive amount of students is the little time we get to walk in between classes.We et five minutes to play a little game of football to tackle your way through people and get to your class that feels like its yards always! Dismissal is a mess with bumper to bumper traffic and crowds of students crossing the streets. Maybe with a few less people school before, during, and after, wouldn't be such a hassle. If someone gave me the option to change something about my school, definitely it would be the schedule. Five days a week? That's way too much after the third day of school we are all exhausted and ready to drop dead!We spend way too much time at school, eight hours is a lot! Coming up with new hours and days for school would be a good idea. The sun isn't even out by the time we wake up, that's why we should start school at twelve in the afternoon so teachers won't complain anymore that students are falling asleep in class. Changing the school schedule would certainly be something to think about. After explaining my reasonable changes that should be made to the school, now they should be considered into effective regulations In the future.With a better lunch environment, an average number of students and a more comfortable schedule I think going to school would actually be a fun place where students want to be everyday! Carey has done many publications for big time newspapers such as The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. He was the Indiana State budget director, and currently teaches education policy at Johns Hopkins University. 2. Carey discusses the crunching debt for-profit schools bring to their students and their practically worthless degrees in his article, â€Å"Why Do You Think They’re Called for-Profit Colleges†.Carey starts off by practically taking away the educational integrity of these for-profit â€Å"higher† education organizations. He basically describes them as get rich quick sales pitches to investors, with profit mainly relying on student government funding (Carey 217). With these statements C arey presents a very clear opposition against for-profit schools, he is very clear in illustrating his argument against them.3. This article has added to the disliking I have had for for-profit colleges such as University of Phoenix, and DeVry. By definition, tax subsidy refers to any kind of subsidy that recipients or students in case of tuition fee receive the benefits according to the tax system in the U.S. The origin of tax subsidy is from consumption tax, profit tax, or income tax. Law of Demand According to Open Doors, an organization that focuses on organizing and monitoring the promotion of US educations to foreign students, the number of international students enrolled in United States higher education institution decreases notable during the last 3 years. The last available data however, was regarding the number of international students enrolling in US universities in the academic year of 2003/2004, which is 2.4% lower than the previous year. The decrease in said to be caused by a variety of reasons, some of them are: Difficulties in obtaining student visas Rising of US tuition costs Vigorous recruitment activities by other English-speaking nations (International Students, 2004) This paper is dedicated to discuss the second cause, which is the rising tuition cost in United States. It has been a common knowledge that international students in United States pay two to three times tuition fees as much as those paid by US students. Thus, a considerable portion of these international students rely on grants and loans from US government or other foundations. Others rely on personal loans. The center of attention of this paper is in the persisted increase in the cost of tuition for foreign students due to inflation and decreased percentage of study cost covered by government and other grants. This continuous increase in study costs for international students raise questions on the necessity of charging such a higher tuition fees on international students compare to local students. Economic Matters The study tuition and fees in United States varies from $ 5,000 to $30,000. This does not include the cost of living which is quite high, particularly in areas around Washington, California and New York. For the particular Asian students, the cost of living varies from $ 4,000 to $ 9,000, assuming that the students will live in share apartments, live out of the campus and have less telephone bill other expenses than US students. Students receiving any type of help like TA/RA/Fellowship of GA do not need to worry about costs, but student lacks of those aids must come prepared for the considerable amount of tuition fees and living costs (Spencer, 2005). In 2005, the average cost of tuition rose to $ 5,491, which is a 7% increase from previous year. Including the costs of room and board, the average annual cost of attendance is basically increased to $12,127. Furthermore, if the costs of books, transportation and additional fees are added, the average costs become more than $15,000 nationwide. In some universities, like the University of Miami, the tuition fee alone is $35,000 per semester, with boarding, books and additional costs included, the total costs of education in the University for foreign students is approximately $ 50,000 per semester. These continuing trends of tuition fees enhancement are not without notable effects. The cuts in tuition aids programs along with increased tuition fees have put many low-income students out of college. There are even more notable phenomena where foreign students perform sexually-oriented work to pay for their tuition fees in US (The Chronicle of Higher Education, 2008). Attentive Support Just like a service company, the more benefits a customer obtain, the more expensive the price might be. This condition is also true for U.S. universities since about one-third of students (about 1.2 million students) that choose to take study abroad will land in the U. S. The reasons are because U.S. universities provide better services to their students including the Leading Technology to fast track of the student success in the future (Hyperstudy, 2007). Another reason is because education in America represents a high value in most of home-country students. This situation is somewhat similar to branded and non-branded clothing, which means that as branded universities, they charge higher tuition fees for international students (Hyperstudy, 2007). Conclusions This paper elaborates the increasing number of international students who pursue their study into graduate schools and college in the U.S. To be specific, this paper is to answer the follow why international students pay more tuition fee than the U.S. citizen. Locke vs. Rousseau Essay ?According to Rousseau, the original condition of mankind was a peaceful and quixotic time in which people lived solitary, uncomplicated lives. This differs from Lockes concept of the state of nature in that, his natural condition of mankind was a state liberty in which one was able to conduct ones life as they saw fit. Like Rousseaus, it was a time of peace between the people, but Lockes was not necessarily a solitary life. ?The state of nature for Locke was a state wherein there were no civil authorities or governments to punish people for transgressions against laws, but was not a state without morality. It was pre-political, but was not pre-moral. In it, persons were assumed to be equal to one another, and therefore equally capable of realizing and being obliged by the law of nature. (The law of nature being one internal, which commanded that no one should harm another as concerning their life, health, liberty, or possessions [p. 4]). In Lockes pre-contract condition, one was not at absolute liberty to do whatever one chose to do; they were inherently bound by the law of nature. ?Rousseaus state of nature had no private property. Private property was something which arose from the stages leading up to the need for authority. Where Locke saw property as something which was naturally protected in the state of nature, Rousseau conceived of property ? the result of greed, competition and vanity- as humanities reason for abandoning such a time and entering into the contract. ?For Rousseau, the few needs of the people in the pre-contract condition were easily satisfied by nature. Because of the abundance of nature and the small size of the population, competition was non-existent, and persons rarely even saw one another, much less had reason for conflict or fear. ?Moreover, for Rousseau, the simple and morally pure persons in the pre-contract condition were naturally endowed with the capacity for pity, and therefore were not inclined to bring harm to one another. There were no inherent ? laws forbidding transgressions on another; it was an internal aptitude for pity. It was the division of labor (once families and communities had developed and leisure time had resulted) that led to value and property, whereas Locke saw property as something that was existent in the natural condition.

The causes of DRG upcoding are due to Careless attitude when a coder is more concerned regarding productivity and standards are not given preference as a coder goes through huge medical records without paying much attention. The value of mean in a dataset can be defined as sum of values of each observation which is divided by the number of observations.(Statistics 2013) Mean value as the characteristic value can be deceptive as it may mostly rely on extreme values For instance if there were five patients in a ward with fractured leg 40+20+21+23+25/5 = 26 When all the observations are weighed equally the forty year old patient will cause an increase in the measure of central tendency and is not representative of the data which is available. When data is available with less number of variables with uncommonly small or large numbers then in such cases median is used as a measure of central tendency. During calculation of median the values in a group of numbers are classified from highest to lowest. Median is mostly used for demographic data with outliers or extreme values. When there are odd number of observations then the middle number is taken as median whereas in case even number of observation where an average of middle two values gives median.(Henderson 2009) In case of a long stay outlier a basic amount of mean inlier cost is assigned to each event. For every outlier day a per diem is calculated by two ways 1. Past and present, there has always been a different integration consisting of the believers and the non-believers of God. The group of those who have "faith" in God tend to be related to one religion or another. On the other hand, the skeptics find the existence of God somewhat puzzling and try to seek the answers through scientific methods. Even as of today with all the modern technologies and the development of sciences, we still do not have a definitive answer to the question "does God exist?" Among many philosophers and scholars who have tried to answer this question, we shall look upon Rene Descartes' theory on the existence of God. In terms of believers and non-believers, Descartes would be one of the believers. Before we go any further, we must ponder upon several questions. What is God? Does God exist? If such God does exist, then where does this being come from? Why do believers and non-believers hold on to their beliefs as they do? What significance does the existence of God have upon mankind? These are only the tip of the iceberg amongst the vast array of unanswered questions related to God. Though there are so many uncertainties as we have just mentioned, the existence of all other uncertainties in our world may explain why the existence of God is so real to many people. For the believers, God provides a convenient answer to all these questions except for the answers regarding God itself. The following are some of the general arguments for the existence of God. The first argument comes from the theory of design; there are orders in the universe which can't be occurring by mere chance. Secondly, the existence of God explains the arguments regarding the efficient causality; as the world exhibits orderly causal sequences, something had to start it all up. Thirdly but not the least, God provides an answer to the question of the origin of life and its destination after death. ( For the sake of convenience, we shall borrow some theological ideas from Christianity, the Christian God, to exemplify our comparisons.) As an example, God is the creator of all, and there is a place in heaven, a kingdom of God, for those who have faith in God. In the above discussion, I was trying neither to prove nor disprove the existence of God; I was, however, trying to offer some skepticism upon statements which many people have claimed about the existence of God. Although Descartes embraces quite a grand statement on the issues of God, I felt that his beliefs were biased towards his own perception and lacked evidence in proving that God exists to the point beyond reasonable doubt. I believe that neither Descartes nor modern science have been able to successfully prove whether God exists or not. What's really important, no matter whether such a being exists or not, is that the ideology of God has certainly existed throughout the history of man. Moreover, the power of this ideology of God has proven to be overwhelming among the believers who have faith in its religion. Even for the non-believers or so called atheists, the ideology of God has an effect and/or an influence on them in one way or another. Yet our country’s leaders, that sit in the highest political seats have traditionally been evangelistic Protestants. Which have dominated religion in politics during the final decade or two in the twentieth century, and if the past is any indication, they will most likely continue to dominate the arenas, with some exceptions, at least through the early decades of the twenty-first century. Though voter seem to notice candidate’s religion less and less over the years. Past waves of religious activism have lasted for several decades at a stretch, and there is little reason to think the religious right will scatter more quickly. In looking at the broad picture of religion in politics across American history, one is beat by how religion stayed for the most part, within the boundaries layed out by the founders of the constitution. Except for a handful of border groups that have tried to influence voters, on both the right and left, religion in the United States is not associated with political violence. Nor does any major religious group seriously advocate that taxpayers fund ministers or enact a religious test for public office. Moreover, to be successful in American Politics and with American voters, religious groups have had to find a way to border their arguments in worldly-wise terms. â€Å"The sun never sets on the British Empire,† Great Britain often bragged. By 1914, about 85% of the earth’s surface was colonized by Europe. Between 1884 and 1885, The Berlin Conference took place to carve up the African continent (Background Essay). Europeans saw high potential in Africa and thought the continent was empty, even though it was not. It was roughly â€Å"untouched† and they thought they could do anything they wanted (Doc.1). Great Britain’s colonization in Kenya affected the country’s religion and culture, education, and government. European colonization in Kenya had a large impact on Africa’s religion and culture. Africa had over 100 ethnic groups in which were effected from the colonization. (Doc.2). The Europeans believed that Africans did not have a developed religion and believed in bizarre thing such as witchcraft (Doc.6). But, in the Abaluyia Story of Creation, it told how the world and man was created, which was really like the European religion of Christianity in which Adam and Eve was made in a similar way. This proved that they indeed did have an organized religion (Doc.7). In 1962, 80% of Kenyans believed in the indigenous beliefs, but after in 2002, only 26% of the population believed in the indigenous beliefs. Because Europeans believed in Christianity, Protestant beliefs went from 7% in 1962 to 38% in 2002, and Catholic beliefs went from 3.5% to 28% (Doc. 8). Europeans felt they gave Africans the Christian religion, a â€Å"superior† form of government, and a more developed civilizat ion (Background Essay). The colonization in Kenya changed their culture also. Kenyans changed their clothing. Leaders of Kenya including the first president Jomo Kenyatta wore clothing very similar to the clothing of the Europeans (Doc.5). This made people feel that their clothing was not in fashion and they had to follow the way of the Europeans. This decreased the amount of people wearing their regular clothing and the amount of people following their own culture. One day, a white man came to the African council and told them that they now had a king. The King of Europe was now their king and Africa was his land. In the poem â€Å"The Fish† written by Elizabeth Bishop, the story of the speaker’s moment catching a large fish was narrated. It was a sort of a descriptive writing wherein the speaker is using the first person recounts his/her story and what she thought and felt in that instance of catching a fish. But looking closely to the poem while analyzing the structure, the composition and the words used, we will be able to see that Elizabeth Bishop did not write just as a description of a memorable moment in a person’s life, it has a message lying under the verses. The speaker in the poem was describing herself while on her boat, in the middle of a particular body of water, while holding the fish that she caught in her hands, she has described the fish as â€Å"battered and venerable and homely†. In her description, any reader would see that the words she used possessed sympathy and boldness. The fish that the speaker was talking about has a shiny grey mouth which was filled with different hooks, and Bishop used this part of the poem to explicitly symbolize pain and suffering, and it is an instance for the speaker to face up to that which is by and large introverted and not seen. But together with her highly crafted, emotionally stressed description, the speaker can be seen as an advocate of art who possess an ability to interpret this suffering or agony just by using the concept of a â€Å"five haired beard of wisdom. † As the speaker commemorates her mastery as the only one who has been able to catch the fish and hold it her hands, the poem closed stages successfully in the company of the contradicting suggestions that creativity is brought into being by means of devastation: Bishop brought to a close, by explicitly saying that â€Å"suffering can be the impetus for the imagination†. On the other hand, in the short story by W. D.
